Question Help

I have an Olympus Evolt e-500 and I am interested in macro photography. I am new at this and can not find any accurate information about what macro lenses to purchase. Do I need OM 4/3 adapter to use either a 50 mm f2.0 macro lens or 35 mm f3.5 macro lens?
Someone told me I need an EC141.4X teleconveter lens to take better telephoto pictures with my Zuiko Digital 14-54mm f2.8/3.5 lens. Is this correct ?
Thanks for your help

I really don't know how to answer your question, but I too own an E-500 Oylmpus with the 14-45mm lens and the 40-150mm lens. I am not a pro, but I have been at it for over 2 years now. My first camera was the E-300 w/the same lens set. I have had good luck using the 40-150 and the macro setting on the camera while taking some shots of flowers and such. Wish I could be of more help.

Default Extension tubes?

Check out the April edition of Popular Photography or Shutterbug. One of them has an article about using tubes to shorten your focal point of zoom lenses.

You don't need the adapter to use the Zuiko 50mm/f 2.0 or the 35 mm/f 3.5. Something to consider is, with the 35mm for example, you have to be real close to get the 1:1 magnification. Sigma, makes a 105 and 150 I know in 4/3, don't know if the 180 comes in this mount, both give you greater working distance.

Don't know that much about the EC14, but if it's the teleconverter and not the expansion tube, then it effectively changes your focal length I believe, giving your 14-54 a range of 19.6 - 75.6mm, or 39.2 - 151.2mm factoring the crop factor of x2 in. An expansion tube I think you would be more interested in for Macro with a normal lens because it gives you more working distance with relative the same magnification (I believe). Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm way off.
