of to selfcorrecting: lens cap fits ok (not totally but cannot be taken of accidentally ) if you put it on the filter and then screw it approx. 1/4 circle. lifting off is normal (squising - not unscrewing it).
found great: all menu thingys are available if in detailed info ok is pressed and cursoring around gets u to whatever setting u want.. thought it'd take me longer to figure settings but it's really a piece of cake (maybe devil's chocolate cake...mmm) later L PS: been having fun w/ WB - now thats easy - as pie (apple..or pecan..must be hungry..lol) |

Keep me updated on your progress, and any good tips/websites, etc. I just got the e510 a couple of months ago - my first dSLR. I found this guy's site helped me a lot initially with figuring out how to use it.

update after almost a week as dSLR n00b:
the camera belt is too damn short! I wear it diagonal - rite to left and its on the back of my hip, doesnt "travell" around that way..but when I hold it up to my eye it's not so comfortable..has to be only around the neck to be loose enough for use. doctor, am I strange? LMAOa good news! battery lasted for cca 300 shots! well, live view was used twice and the info ctrlpanel is off..but it was in the 1st week of getting to know each other so there were a lot of settings trials and all that investigating.. today I shot about 120 usable shots (mtb race), using flash a lot, and yesterday shot about 50 w/o flash (the usable ones - so there are a lot of pics in the trash can) and the battery didnt mind the fun at all! I keep pressing the fn and focus point buttons, w/o noticing it mind u, and then getting surprised during shooting. Had to LOCK the cursor buttons cause my thumb had fun w/o me knowing it. but the ok button cant be locked and I seem to press it a lot unintentionally - all this aint so often to get worried about, and my thumb just has to get use to the backpanel... didnt use the preprogrammed settings, and I dont think I will..been around SLRs a long time now so I like to control the shooting mysefl. ISO setting is always 100 - no noise even at the really slow expositions. btw. image stabilization works great..I have a trained steady hand, the camera is heavy enough to be controlable so even at under 1/10 the photos are sharp... some tech thingies: really quiet AF, not annoying shutter sound, fast card - viewing, deleting and transferring wise.. thats it for now any other issues or ideas from longER time users are welcome later L |
