Question Olympus SP570uz

This looks a reallly impressive camera, but..nobody appears to have yet published a review of it. Does anyone know of a Review..or better still..have personal experience of the camera itself. I'm seriously considering buying an SP570, but want to know a little more about the 'cons'..if indeed there are any. Thanks:

Default I can almost answer that question.

I purchased the Olympus SP560Z camera back in November before the SP570Z was available for purchase. It has many of the same features as the 570 and I have been very pleased with it's performance. I bought my camera because it had the most zoom range offered at the time (18X) for a digital camera. I love the extended zoom range and it makes some very nice sharp photos. I also love macro photography and was pleasantly surprised with the super macro setting on the camera. I have always had to rely on macro add-on lenses in the past to get the kind of closeup detail I want to get. No more add-ons are needed for this camera. Here are some examples of the 560's performance:

Neither photo had any photo editing besides contrast adjustment and a small cropping on the monkey photo.

If I were you, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase the Olympus SP570Z. It has the same features as the 560 plus a 20X zoom and more megapixels.

I own this camera. Previously, I had the SP-550UZ. The 550 was an OK camera. But, the 570 is a wowzer. It is touted as a P&S with the soul of a DSLR and that's not far off the mark. Nothing's perfect, however. The only two things I find fault with is having to use adapter tubes to use filters; and XD picture cards instead of SD cards. There are so many improvements over the 550 and 560 that they'd be hard to list. Let's start with the hotshoe; a total revamp of the function button location, the zoom ring (takes some getting used to, for sure), larger LCD (not by much but it's something), it seems faster to me and the IQ seems improved. If you read the "professional" reviews, they seem so wishy-washy or even negative. This camera is destined to be a classic!
