Hey guys. I'm getting the Olympus SP-600uz for Christmas tomorrow, and I'm so excited : )
I was wondering if anyone owns this camera, has owned it, or knows someone with it, and can tell me all about it! Of course, I did LOTS of research on this camera and know a lot about it, but I just want some feedback from actual users. I'm a beginner photographer (just started a few months ago) and would like to get interested in macro photography. I take mostly nature and portrait photo's. Thanks for the help

Does not seem that the Olympus group is very big or active. I hope you are enjoying your new camera.
The SP-600, like any point and shoot camera, works well if you understand it's strengths and weaknesses. While it has a 15x optical zoom.. no long zoom is going to give you fantastic results in less than perfect conditions. For instance.. outside football game in sunlight equals good photos. Indoor volleyball at the high-school.. tragic! Macro shots of flowers and bugs - amazing! Zoom shots of the full moon - horrific! Since you like macro and portrait photos, You will probably have a good time with your SP-600. For portraits, turn the camera on it's side (portrait orientation), take a few steps back and then zoom the lens to fill the frame. This should give you a nice soft background with your subject remaining sharp. I find that most of the shots I see from the SP-series could use a bit more contrast. I am not a big fan of Oly software.. so using ANYTHING else, bump it up and you will see better looking images quickly. |
