I've only got one recommendation of a lens: the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 for the portraits. It's much nicer than the Olympus 17/2.8: it's both faster and sharper.
You may also want to consider the VF-2 electronic viewfinder. Using a viewfinder vs. the LCD on the back can drastically change your handholding technique and capabilities.

Just picked one up last week to see how it'd work out as a "mid size" rig... Been shooting with both the Canon eos 20d as well 40d, and wanted to see what could be achieved in a smaller scale, and am so far favourably impressed. Am also using the kit lens, (14-42mm), but have been looking toward to the Oly 17mm as well the VF2 viewfinder.
So far, it's been a blast to work with; makes me wonder why so few other replies to a 2+ month old post though.....? |

I have the EPL-1 and GF-1. You may want to check out the Panasonic 20 f/1.7 as well. It works very well with both cameras.

I was not sure how to answer a post that asked what they needed to go pro with their EPL1! It would have probably been rude to say "a different camera"!

I'd like to chalk it up to youthful enthusiasm on their part, and a desire to become more professional in their work overall, (as opposed to making money at this point - though the market should sort them out soon enough if the latter is the case). Anyway, point taken Papa Rottzi; should have phrased my comment differently.

You are ok, Ash. I am just a sarcastic old fart!
As you can see by my signature, I am heavily invested in Oly product. I have had a lot of opportunity to play with the EPL's as well. They are good/great cameras with a lot of potential to make great images.. just not sure if I am yet willing to say "I am a professional and I use an EPL1!" |
