Default Getting more out of point and shoot macro

I recently bought the SP800-UZ point and shoot. Its my first camera and i've just started to get into macro shots. I read on a forum here about buying "magnetic filters" or something to that nature for increasing your magnification. Does anyone know 1. Where is the best places to purchase one. and 2. Do they really work? Any help would be great. thank you

If you lens does not have the threads to take a screw-in filter there are filters made to be applied magnetically. Are they effective? Absolutely. Millions of people use them all the time and with great results. Below is a photo I took several years ago with a point and shoot camera and a close-up filter (diopter) This tiny flower is only about an inch across:

Thank you for responding Lee. I appreciate the photo as well, my main goal is to just increase the detail in my photos. Do most camera shops carry the filters or is it best to get them online? Thanks again.
