Default New to this forum with a few questions....

Just found this forum today and had a few questions.....just bought a E520 a few months ago and want to really dive into it. I am new to the SLR also. First what flash should i get for this camera and next would be an all purpose lens. I have the lens kit that came with it. The 14-42 and the 40-150. I have taken some nice pictures, but dont like switching lenses all the time. I will be taking indoor and outdoor shots, close up and far shots. I would like to get something that would maybe give me the range of the two lenses I have now, but with one. I also want to autofocus feature still. Maybe I am asking for too much....dont know! Should I stick with switching lenses all the time? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

all around 18-180 - not sure about the reviews on this lens though. i believe they were mixed from site to site. this will cover nearly both lenses you have and you won't have to switch. see if you can try it out in a store before you buy it. if you like it then if you want i guess you could sell the kit lenses.

i would keep those lenses until you outgrow them. my walk around for going out is the 50-200. that will cover my needs and if i need anything wider, i have my canon point and shoot.

Thanks for the great info. One more question. I just got out my E520 the last couple of days and it seems like any picture I take with either lens seems to be blurry and its having trouble auto focusing. This is in the auto mode, since I havent really got into the other modes yet. I took this camera on a cruise a couple of months ago and shot pics in the auto mode with both lenses and had great results. Any suggestions for the blurry pics?

If budget isn't an issue you could go with the FL-50R TTL ($350) or the FL-36 ($190) but has less features. I did a lot of research and decided to go with the a Bower SFD926O TTL ($115), it as about the same features as the FL-50R but half the cost.

here are a couple links:
FL-36
FL-50R
Bower SFD926O

Good Luck,
Jerome

A little late, but I bought an E-520 in may with the same problem. What I found was that liveview did not have this problems, the pictures were sharp and in focus. I called Olympus tech support, and just sent the camera last week. So you should check liveview, and either way call Olympus and send it in for repair.
