Default Best lenses for Nikon D700

Hi. I need a bit of your professional advice here. I mainly intend to do bridal and portrait shooting. I can afford two lenses at this moment and need your professional help in sorting out with what to go for.. I have following line up;

1. Nikon - Nikkor 50mm F/1.8 D or should I go for Nikon - Nikkor 50mm F/1.4 G or Nikkor 50mm F/1.4 D.. Though the price suggests that I should go for a 50mm F/1.8 D. Do you see anything better if I go for more expensive 1.4 G or 1.4 D version. Please advice.

2. Nikon - Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED

3. Nikon - Nikkor 85mm f/1.4d or 85mm f/1.8

Keeping in mind that I mainly have to do indoor shooting (obv. in softbox lighting) for bridal and portraits. Please suggest if you have something else in mind for the above mentioned purpose for Nikon use.

24-70 and one of the 85s (the 1.4 is preferable, but not necessary). If you go the 1.8 route, you can also get the 50mm for roughly the same price.

Go for the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 AF-S it is a great lens. You should skip the 50mm, its a waste. People will tell you how great and sharp it is, but it is not a portrait lens, and the 24-70 will give almost as good results at 50mm. The 85mm is a nice addtion, the f/1.8 is great, if you have money there is always the 1.4.

I would go with the 24-70 f2.8. I am actually saving up for that one or the 14-24 f2.8. I have an 85mm f1.8 and it's a great portrait lense. It's very sharp!

When I shoot weddings, I use two lens. Each is mounted on a D3 set for Auto ISO 6400
AF-S Nikkor 28-70 and 70-200 f/2.8

When I get a D3s it will have the 70-200 on it and one of the D3 bodies will have a 14-24 on it for the 3rd ready to shoot set up. In the meantime I have a D90 for back up

24-70mm logical choice. Safe.
50mm F1.4 D emotional choice. Challenging.
