Default D50 Questions

Ok, had my D50 for a while now and have been learning more and more about how to use it properly. However, I have two questions I cannot seem to get figured out.

First, how can I determine how many shutter clicks I have on this camera (or any other for that matter)? I bought it used and plan to buy another camera later this year for other projects and I (typically) buy used. I just don't know how to determine how many clicks.

More importantly, I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to set exposure compensation. I shoot manual and, when you hold down the exposure compensation button and spin the wheel on the back, that sets the aperture. I have looked everywhere to learn how to set exposure compensation. Even on Ken Rockwell's site he says:

"Hold it (exposure compensation button) and spin the rear dial to change the brightness of your pictures."

Again, this sets the aperture so I'm confused.

Thanks!

Exposure compensation and manual mode are contradictions. Exposure compensation is used in other (auto/semi-auto) modes. The concept of compensated exposure in manual mode is done by adjusting settings - manually.

The exposure count of your camera can be obtained from the EXIF data - look for a program called "Opanda".

I kinda figured this (re: exposure comp) but was wondering if I was missing anything. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Will check out Opanda.

Thanks!
