Okay ladies and gents I was given a D3000 for X.mas. I'm new at this digital stuff so please forgive. I got some series e-glass I know they will fit the camera in manual only. But from what i'm understanding the aperture is at f-22 when mounted do I still use the aperture ring for more or less light just like my film cameras then look at the lcd screen. I think I'm explaining this okay. Sorry if this was asked before. I'm just use to my old nikon gear Thank You

You set the aperture with the ring only with non-CPU lenses, the camera won't control the aperture even though the lens has an aperture prong. You only have to set it to the smallest aperture when using a CPU lens that has an aperture ring on newer cameras.
