Canon EOS 500D (Rebel T1i) or Nikon D90

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a digital SLR camera but am not sure which one to get and was just wondering if I could ask for some advice?

I would say that I am interested in Landscape, Travel/outdoor, Spontaneous and some night/low light level photography. The two Cameras I was thinking about was the Canon 500D and the Nikon D90. Which one would you recommend for me to buy?

I have looked at some photos taken by both cameras and some of the Canon 500D seem clearer with more 'vivid' colours but obviously this could be very dependent on the photographer and settings used! But a lot of people have recommended the Nikon D90 too, over the Canon 500D!

What would you recommed?

Hello Dk87 welcome to DPS.

Just like buying a car, buying a camera is a matter of opinion. The Nikkon and Pentax people will tell you that their's is the best. I'll tell you that canon is the best as they have good resale value, most pros use Canon, you can get accessories easily and cheaply.

But you have to make the decision based on your felings. Go to a local camera shop, ask to hold and try each one and see how they feel in your hand. My wife complans that my 450D is too heavy for her, but she is used to a little Samsung Pand S and a newer Fuji Pand S.

Picture quality is generally not a camera issue as all cameras can take great photos as well as the crap ones that I mostly take.
