I am looking for a good Macro Lens for my Nikon. A few years back i took some amazing pictures (I thought) with a Cannon rental and a Cannon Macro lens, unfortunately I cant remember what it was. When I say macro, I am meaning really really close, I always get macro and micro mixed up. I was able to photograph the individual seeds on a hamburger bun if I wanted to. One of the Nikon macro lens I can find is the AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D, which will get: Close-up to approx. 0.22m/0.6 ft. I am not sure if this is what I want though, it doesn't seem like it gets close enough or large enough. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should get, or know of one that is better than this?
Thanks in advance! |

Actually, you're not getting them mixed up. Nikon using the term "Micro" and Canon uses the term "Macro." They both denote extreme close-up lenses. I had the opportunity to use a Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 Micro and it seemed really good to me, but that's a subjective opinion as I have limited experience in the macro world!

I'm currently waiting for the Nikon 85mm f3.5. It recently been released and there is not much review around.
I want to see more testing from the community before buying it, but on paper, it seems a very interesting macro solution for 500$ (CAD currency. It's half the price of the 105mm f2.8). DX doesn't really bother me since I don't have any intention to go for a FF.

If youre sticking to DX, the 85mm f/3.5 seems to be tops.
