Raul, if you hate it so much, return it! It's one small niggle that youre hung up on. Either suck it up and accept it or return the body and get something else. You're starting to sound like the DPReview forums.

Yep. No solutuon.
But nice to know instead of the tape to put over it, I can flip the swivel screen so that the LCD will be stored facing the body just like a vid cam.

Well the D5000 is my first DSLR. Santa bought it. My last SLR was a Canon AE1 bought 30 something years ago. Several well hated point and shoots sonce then. When shooting the D5000, I am in the viewfinder. I can see what I need for the actual shot there. .... so this is not a problem for me.

I agree with micheyw3340. I just got the D3000 and I noticed that. It really isn't that bad....

Why would you want to turn that feature off.

You can turn it off for images, just not the shooting info display. Page 170 of your camera users manual.
