Right now, the D5000 is under $645 on Amazon, and yes it is a real price. That 's a great deal. The D5000 adds a lot more than the D3000. In fact I would look at the D90 since it's quite affordable right now.
I never use live view so I wouldn't base your decision on it. |

I own the D5000 and I love it however if you can spare the extra money I would get the D90 the big difference is the lenses the camera can use and in the long run will save you money. I chose the D5000 over the D3000 because it is just a better camera overall and I think you would outgrow the D3000 quickly.
