Default nikon D100

I recently bought on impulse a Nikon D100. I didn't realize that it was the oldest DSLR from Nikon at the time I bought it. But since I have it, I want to make the best of it...even though reading information about it online is really discouraging.

I also have a Nikon D40 and I love it! I use a Nikkor 55-200mm and an 18-135mm with this. But I don't want to travel with it, hence, the reason why I purchased the D100. I'm fairly new to photography. And I mostly take pictures of my 3 year old daughter.

Can anyone tell me what lens is best for the D100?

I appreciate any advice that you can give me with this camera!

There's not such thing as a "best lens for body XXX". Lenses are interchangeable for this exact reason.

What do you want from a lens? That can help us determine what to suggest.

Is there a reason you don't want to travel with your D40? It's far more modern, light, and portable. I would recommend using it for travel.

That said, what kinds of things are you interested in photographing? For example: people, landscapes, wildlife, sports...

Thanks for trying to help. DCClark was right. I ended up wishing that I had my D40 after traveling this weekend. The pictures of my daughter and mother would have been great with the D40. But, I'll keep practicing! Thanks again.
