Default Choosing the right camera

Hi All,

I'm a brand new newbie to this group, altho far from a newbie to Photography!!

Basically I would like my husband to get me a new (my first!) Nikon camera for Christmas and I'm not sure which one would be best. I already have a Fuji S7000, a Canon 300D + zoom lens, and my most recent is an Olympus FE280. I don't want to break (his) bank, but what I'm looking for, that I can't get with these other cameras is a camera that WORKS WELL UNDER LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS, has a good MACRO lens, as well as a good ZOOM--all without sacrificing the highest megapixel I can (shooting RAW should do the trick anyway) and the Nikon range seems to have the COLOR CLARITY and CRISPNESS I look for. And of course not too pricey. The Coolpix range seems to offer the versatility I'm looking for without having to buy extra lenses, etc. But which one??? My Olympus has the BEST battery life, and I was happy enough with the results from the other cameras, (outside of the frustration with low light clarity) until I saw what my very talented Niece and sister could come up with, (with their Nikons) and realized my COLOR just wasn't right. So a change is needed, but which one??

Can you help?

Thanks,
AsburyAngel

What youre asking for is an advanced P&S camera that's good in low-light, has a good zoom lens and high megapixels.

The sky is the limit, but this is close.

You can get a P&S camera that'll give you good zoom and high megapixels with a good macro, but it wont be a nikon and it'll be terrible in low light conditions

a DSLR will give you good low-light capabilities, but the "zoom" of the lens depends on what lenses you use, as does macro. It also means that you end up carrying a bag of gear.
