Unhappy Help D5000 or old D80

Hi i just got my new Nikon D5000, i actually wanted to buy a D90 but couldn't afford it, at that time. Now i just saw a second hand Nikon D80. I hate my Nikon D5000, i hate the quality, although i've bought a nikkor 35mm 1,8G its almost the same quality. Do you think its better to stay to my Nikon or should i take the second hand Nikon D80?

Well, what do you hate about it? What part of the quality do you hate? Build quality? Image quality?

What about the settings? It's about the same with most entry-level DSLR's.

As far as the noise is concerned, what are the lighting conditions you're shooting in? Plenty of light or indoors at night or what? Is the ISO set high? Noise becomes somewhat noticeable above ISO 400 and it's pretty apparent at ISO 1600 and higher.

a d5000 has far superior iso capabilities than a D80... a D5000 has the same sensor as a D90.. the D90 just has all the good stuff like focus motor and CLS like a D80 does.

keep the D5000

as above, post a sample of what you're experiencing (with the relevant EXIF).. chances are its user error

so its better to stay to D5000. I tried with all ISO 1600up to H1, its lighter, but its still noisy. I can also swap it to D90, but only a body. is it worth it? im afraid i have to add more money.

I believe the D5000, D90, D300, D300s share the same sensor technology. If the D5000 performance is below your expectation then it has to be a D700 or D3/D3s.

Keep the ISO between 100 and 400. Don't use higher ISO unless you're in a situation with very little lighting and you need a faster shutter speed than what ISO 100-400 will allow.

I have a D80, D5000 and a D300 - the D5000 beats the D80 in image quality hands down. Sure it does not have all the buttons and dials of the D300 - but the image quality is just as good. Take some time to learn your D5000 it is a great camera.
