Question New glass or a better body???

Hi all,
I'm getting to the point now where I've got a small collection of lenses that I'm happy with and a Nikon D50 body which I know inside and out. My question is, when investing in new camera gear should I step up on a new body or save up for some nicer glass? Should I be going to my local camera shop and buying used lenses that are more affordable?

These are the lenses I have now:
AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm
AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm
AF Nikkor 50mm Prime
Tamron AF 28-200mm

Thanks for any input!

What about your body/lenses isn't working for you?

Any reason you have the Tamron? It's 28-200mm focal length seems redundant if you already have the Nikkor 18-55mm and 55-200mm.

Good catch on the tamron! it is a bit redundant but I picked it up for free from a friend

Nothing is wrong with my lenses or body but I'm so hungry to learn this stuff that I thought it might be worth investing in something here. What do you think??

No. If you're hungry to learn, then you already have more than you need. It's far more important to work on composition, using colors, lines, and shapes, finding strong subjects, etc.. You can do that with any equipment -- and as you work, you might discover new and interesting things which you like to do. For example, as I learned, I discovered that I loved ultra-wide angles, so that lead me to buy a 10mm lens. I benefited enormously from taking time to learn about my photography, as opposed to just gettig more equipment.

If you still want to purchase something....

I purchased this book last summer

Amazon.com: The Photographer's Eye: Composition and Design for Better Digital Photos (9780240809342): Michael Freeman: Books

It focus on the composition side and the "art side" of photography instead of the ususal triangle / exposure (ISO, Aperture, Shutter). I found the book very interesting and providing information I wasn't use the see everywhere.

A very good investement IMO.

Thumbs up Good advice

David has definitely given you some first class advice. Getting a new body or new glass, while tempting, won't necessarily be what you need. Work on your technique and style. Learn to see your subject in your mind's eye...see what light can do...etc. Improve yourself before thinking of improving your equipment (if you even need to). I wish I had paid attention to this kind of advice early on.
