Thanks for the samples. Between all the hub bub about the new 70-200mm f2.8 and all the macro lens talk, I got curious about how much the focal length of the lenses actually change at minimum focus distances. Using the min focus distance, I calculated the focal length at 1:1 reproduction for some popular macro lenses.
Nikkor 60mm f2.8 AF-S - 46.3mm Nikkor 85mm f3.5 AF-S - 71.5mm Nikkor 105mm f2.8 AF-S - 78.5mm Tamron 60mm f2 AF - 57.5mm Tamron 90mm F2.8 AF - 72.5mm Note: All but the Tamron 90mm are internally focused lenses. Doesn't really effect the use of the lens much since the min focus distance is more important for that. It is interesting to see what sort of compromises the lens designers make, though. It's also pretty amazing the the Tamron 60mm only loses 2.5mm at the closest focus distance. Sorry a little pride of ownership there.

There are some samples on DPReview and most are showing a TON of Chromatic abberation.
