Default D40 battery compatibility?

I just wanted to make sure...
Can I use the EN-EL9a battery with the D40?
I read something about the EL9a being compatible with the D5000 but it didn't say anything about compatibility with other cameras.

I'm guessing yes, but: check the amerage and voltage. If they match, you should be OK.

The EN-EL9a is a newer version of the EN-EL9. Go for it!

If you are going to use the EN-EL9a you'll also want to install the new firmware on your D40 to get the full benefits of the new version of the battery:

D40 firmware: A: 1.12 - Windows

EN-EL 9,9a,9e all work well with D40. There are no compatibility issues with these batteries as far as D40 is concerned. You just have to keep in mind the amount of time you need between charging.
