Hi Maureen, Welcome to dPS. I'm not a Nikon user but I'm pretty sure you can't... You're after "Watermarking" you images. If you use the search tool up above and do a search for "watermarking" you should find some interesting posts and some help.

Best,
Sime

If you mean putting your name on the picture itself, no it's not do-able. IF you mean putting your name in the EXIF data, I dont think its possible with the D80 either: im pretty sure its a D200+ option.

The D80 has a comment field where you can put any sort of note into the EXIF metadata. I used it for my name. It actually places the note in the Comment field of the EXIF metadata. You can then change it later if you have software that can edit the EXIF metadata such as Lightroom.

This comment is only in the metadata though. It is not a visible stamp on the image itself. To do that, you will need to add it to the image via an image editor. There are some that will allow you to do this in a batch process to multiple images at once. This visible stamp is what is called "watermarking".

You can do it on the D40, too. One of the few beneficial things Ken Rockwell ever taught me. (Others being that the histogram is just the green channel and.... nope... that seems to be it.)
