Nikon 85 mm 1.4

HI Everyone, yesterday I received in the mail my new 85 mm 1.4 and I am a bit puzzled about it:
1. when it tries to autofocus it makes this zum-zum loud noise - is that normal and ok?
2. I can't seem to be able to put the hood on - when I try to twist it on it makes a scary squeak noise so I am afraid to push it not to do some damage.

Any advise and insight would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have the lens, but one review says that the AF isn't that quiet - so the noise you hear may be normal.

No idea about the lens hood, though.

1: The 85 autofocuses using the in-camera body motor. It's NOT quiet. The 50mm f/1.8 is similar. No worries there, unless it's making a grinding noise.
2: The hood is likely a screw-type, so it screws on like a filter, not like most hoods.

oh thank you for your replies. i have done some extra research as well and yes, i guess the 85 mm 1.4 does not have the built in silent motor technology so it is supposed to make a little noise.
