Good for you!

I know you have spent all of your money... The very next thing you will want to buy though is a 50mm f/1.8 lens. It's cheap, fast, and sharp! Everyone should own a Nifty Fifty. Hands down you will get more great images for the dollar than any other camera investment.

Yes, exactly! That's my problem I've always loved photos but didn't have a clue what went into making them until recently. When I bought the D40 almost 2 yrs ago, I just wanted great shots of my kiddo and figured that's all I needed to one day become a professional. I mean, hey, it was a DSLR and a Nikon at that! Whew!
Little did I know.
I too think you should look down the road a bit with your aspirations in mind. That said, there's nothing wrong with buying an entry level camera and working it until you grow out of it
