Picked it up with the 18-105 lens. The last SLR I used was a Pentax ME Super and recently have been using a Canon S3iS and this rig is certainly a lot bigger and heavier. I can see why proper holding technique becomes important.
Anyway, after reading a lot of reviews and forums (especially this one - thanks) I'm planning on getting the AF-S 35mm 1.8G DX sooner than later and then the Tokina 11-16. How do those lens choices sound? I thought of getting a longer zoom right away but I've always found myself wishing for two things - more speed in low light and a wider angle of view to get more depth in my shots. So I think I'll wait to get something in the 70-200/300 range. Now to find a decent bag. Any recommendations? |

Try KATA 3N1-20... I planning to get one soon too...
It's a medium sized bag which should be able to fulfil your gear needs right now If you want something bigger, try take a look at 3N1-30, though the shape doesn't look cool anymore

Either way, the 11-16 and 35 will give you an effective range of 16.5-24mm and 52.5mm- which is a nice wide range and a 'normal'- While I think your choice of lenses here is great, in the case you weren't already aware of it, DX format cameras give you longer teles quite easily- the 70-300mm would give you a range of 105-450mm on your D90 (as opposed to the intended 70-300 on a film or FX camera). [My next camera is going to be an FX and I intend on using shorter lenses on it and any and all longer lenses on my DX)

Went bag shopping today and although the Kata 3N1-20 (thanks radityopradipto) and the Lowepro Slingshot AW20 were front runners, I ended up with a Crumpler 6 Million Dollar Home. It's a bit more of a traditional shoulder bag than the other two and I also liked that it doesen't really look like a camera bag. We'll see how it works out. |

Ah yes- that's what I assumed you meant. And yes, the 11-16mm should be quite nice. What's more is that it seems to be an excellent ultrawide as far as distortion goes (I'm not really a fan of the fisheye 'look' and prefer ultrawides to fisheyes). Enjoy it!

It's a fantastic bag, my concern is just because my gears grow rapidly, it's no longer enough and it hurts my shoulder if I shot for hours

Absolutely, I got my 5 MDH for light travels i.e. events with friends and Crumpler Karachi Outpost for full load up on my gears, yet I still need the Medium size bag such as 3N1-20 for serious daily shots

So true...
I started with a small Roots bag that could only hold my old D60/18-55mm, an extra batterie and a 52mm polarizer. Upgraded to a Lowepro Sling 200AW to realize I'm often gone for long session and I cannot carry anything else than my gear unless I bring another bag. I'm now using a Lowepro Primus AW and I love this bag. It's perfect for people who likes trekking. It can hold you gear + what you need during the day.
