Unhappy Nikon D90 Error Problem

Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my Nikon D90 just about every time I go out. I dont remember what the error code is but it usually happens after I actuate the picture, then the error code pops up making the photo a long exposure but it doesn't stop taking it. I have to shut the camera off and it still doesn't go away. Then I have to take out the battery and then it works again. Has anyone had this problem? I think it has to do with the lens having a little slop in it and getting offset when focusing. Anyone know how to fix this or should I send it to Nikon? I just got this camera in July.

Does it make it with your 18-105 and your 50mm ?

I would try the 18-105 on another body then. This is to identify if the problem is from the lens or the body. There is no need to send your body if the problem is comming from the len.

Hate to ask a stupid question, but you said it happened on long exposures and you didn't give an actual error number... So... Do you have the long exposure noise reduction feature on? That makes the exposure take 2x as long and leaves your camera processing for that time. Otherwise, the actual error message would be useful. Hopefully it's something simple or the lens rather than your camera though

Sounds exactly like long exposure NR to me. Check in the menus -- you can turn off noise reduction. Then try again, and I bet your problem will disappear!

Yeah... It's probably the Long Exposure Noise Reduction...
It shows some code you might interpret as an error code on the minor LCD panel
Turn that feature off.. It's quite annoying

Is "Job nr" displayed????? If so, that's not an error code, it's a message.

See page 167 of the D90 users manual, Long Exposure Noise Reduction. Be sure and look at page 168 too, High ISO NR.

Oh...Error Messages are listed begining on page 255 of the D90 users manual.

Default Err on D90

I am also experiencing the same problem that the user "98kotart" has. My gears are also same gears.

I am unable to figure out what the problem is ? I tried removing the lens 18-105 and put it back. It does not solve the issue. My observation is that when I zoom the lens it does appear, I do not have the exact reproducible steps now. I will try to document them once I am back to home.

Another problem is, I followed "Youtube" videos on how to fire the SB-600 off the camera. It did work, but on the other day, when I was shooting in an important community function, it did not work.

Added to that, when I put back the flash on the camera (mounting on the camera), I feel like the flash is not covering sufficient. It used to work. Now, the pictures using built in flash are better litted then the SB-600.

can you someone help me to solve this.

Thanks
Sat

Did you read the thread above? The consensus was that "Long Exposure Noise Reduction" was turned on, which means that the camera automatically takes a second exposure just as long as the first. Have you tried turning that off?
