Unhappy Nikon D40 LCD protector...

Hello DPS!

First and foremost, I appreciate all of you for looking at my thread.

I have purchased a Nikon D40 recently and have been looking at HARD LCD monitor covers like this on eBay and was wondering if any of you that use a Nikon D40 with this sort of protector or is it worth it? I have some of the plastic peel off stuff and it really doesn't work well.

Also are there any cheap but decent UV and Circularized Filters that are good to use?

I really love this camera and it is my first DSLR. I really snap family photos but when I get time I go outside and snap nature...

Thank you all for help.

If you're not satisfied with the peel off covers, I'd recommend getting the hard plastic one. My D80 came with it and I'm happy.

I've had my D40 for about 3 years; no special LCD cover and, so far, no problems. However, I do keep the camera in a camera bag when I'm not shooting with it and make sure there is nothing in there which will cause problems (spare lenses packed away in compartments) so I have taken a lot of care with it.

Hi JP,

The plastic protector you are showing doesn't look very clear, so I would think it would detract from the screen. I have a D5000 and use the peel and stick, it works fine.

I've never used an LCD protector on my D40x, and it's always hanging loose at my side. I've had no problems with it.

As far as UV filters -- you really get what you pay for. Admittedly, I use a cheap one, but if you're worried about glare or optical problems, don't buy the $20 no-name one.

I love the one that came with mine, too, but NIkon never made one for the D40 series.

Hi, maybe you can check out this Nikon D40 LCD Screen Protector, it is a cheap but decent one.
