Arrow Nikon D80

I have the D80 but I feel it is so hit and miss to get a shot. I know I am not the world's best photographer but my pics never look 'pin sharp' even with tripod and remote Could it be the camera My son-in-law using a Canon with half my pixels and no tripod gets a better pic!

And why are attachments not showing??

The D80 is a very good camera - there are newer and better ones out now, but not that long ago it was close to top of the line. Thus, you should be able to take good pictures with it. I can't see your attachment so don't know what is wrong with it. What specifically is wrong - is it just sharpness? What lens are you using and what f/stop and shutter speed and ISO?

I use a D80 too. The only sharpness problems that I notice are generally my fault, and not the camera's.

Like Kirbenster, I can't see your attachment. Maybe the forum upgrade is messing it up? But sharpness depends on a lot of factors A few questions:

Which lens are you using? Some are sharper than others.

Which aperture did you use? Lenses are sharper at some apertures than others, especially kit and consumers level lenses.

Which shutter speed did you use? Subject movement will cause sharpness issues if the shutter is too slow whether or not you are using a tripod.

Are you shooting RAW or JPEG? If you are shooting JPEG, then try increasing the in-camera sharpness setting. If RAW, then you will need to learn to use Unsharp Mask and other sharpening tools in post processing.

Is your lens a VR lens? Generally it is recommended to turn VR off when your are using a tripod as some VR implementations can cause lens vibrations when on a tripod.

Did you use a shutter release, IR remote or the shutter's self timer+exposure delay? Pressing the shutter button while on a tripod can cause internal vibrations in the camera. Using one of the mentioned methods reduces that possibility.

Without knowing some more information it is hard to determine where the problem might be and how to correct it.
