Exclamation D60: has this ever happened to you?

I have a D60. I was taking some photos and noticed that I had debree that were exposed with the photos. So, I took my lens off to check my mirror. I saw nothing. Then I locked my mirror and saw debree. I couldn't blow it off. So, I made the silly mistake of wiping it. Now, there is a scratch on my sensor. I think I'm going to have to send it in for repair. Will my warranty cover this? Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?

You're definitely going to have to send it in: if the filters in front of the CCD are scratched they need replacing.

That being said, I dont know if its under warranty or not.

.
I'm unable to send it in right now because of being at sea in the Navy. I will be home soon and I'm going to send it in as soon as possible. Even if I have to pay for it, I think it's worth paying for. I can still take pictures using a low f/stop and it isn't effected much. I can just clean my image with photoshop. The only thing is my creativity is limited now because of using high f/stops everything shows up. It's an amatuer mistake and I am still an amatuer.

No, your warranty will not cover. Nikon state in their manuals, that self cleaning of Low pass filter, rather than genuine Nikon Servicing, that warranty will be negated.
