Hello everyone,
I've been away for a while because I didn't have time but it's nice to be back. Currently, I am thinking of buying a Nikon Factory Demo D60 and a lens from Camera Cameta on eBay. I was hoping you could help me choose the lens. Basically, I am not sure whether to get the kit lens 18-55mm VR and a 55-200mm VR or the newer 18-105mm VR. I can get a D60 + 18-55mm VR & 55-200mm VR for the same price as a D60 + 18-105mm VR. I plan to do landscape photography, portraits and some urban photography. The first reason why I'm considering the 18-105mm over the other two is because I feel it will be more useful to me. I am not so eager to have a super zoom lens right now, and I could do all the three things with 18-105mm only. The 18-55mm kit lens could be used most of the time, but if I wanted to do portraits with more than 80 mm (35mm eqiv.) or a little more reach I would have to change the lens. The second reason is because I think the 18-105 delivers better image quality, at least from what I've read online. There is one review of it here: http://www.bythom.com/Nikkor18-105lensreview.htm and there are also many positive opinions about it here: http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showp...ct/1221/cat/13 There are also other reasons, the 18-105mm has a better focusing ring, the barrel doesn't rotate (I plan to use polarizers), and the lens itself looks much better and more serious. So, what do you think? Does the better usefulness and all the other features justify buying 18-105 over the 18-55 and 55-200? What would you do? |
