This should start appearing in stores within a few weeks, in the mean times, here's some interesting reading on the lens (with some sample photos):

I've never really understood the point either, for me, who cares what its equivilent is on a 35mm camera - I'm not using an old film camera, I'm using a modern digital for Pete's sake
![]() I guess if someone was after a 50mm or 35mm specifically for the focal length and absolutely had to have it for some technical reason, then they'd be disappointed if they tried to use it with a cropped camera.. I just don't know of any particular reason why you couldn't interchange a 35mm or 50mm lens in most situations. Wouldn't you simply stand closer or further away?

the reason for it is that focal length brings a certain amount of distortion. the human eye sees a particular length, and thats what we percieve to be "no" distortion, and thus this is best for portraits. also, 50mm isnt really wide enough in certain circumstances.. and sometimes a wall or other object stops you from actually moving backward. so that means its time for your handy-dandy 35mm

heres a recent post which could serve as an idea.... but "how much" distortion is really not measurable i dont think.
certainly not the the inerperienced eye. i havn't looked too deeply into this, but it happens. wipe angles flatten, long zoomier shots compress.. (so i believe.. Google could provide an answer if you're willing to search) as i said, i've only brushed over the subject, so couldnt provide anything definitive or in-depth. i remember reading soemthing about it by Zeltsman on his webpage http://digital-photography-school.co...59&postcount=8
