Default D3000 vs D5100 in flash sync speed

Practical flash sync :

D5100 : 1/160s
D3000: 1/320s

What happens here?

I'm not sure where you've read those numbers, as both the D3000 and D5100 have a max sync speed of 1/200.

The pro-level bodies will do 1/250, and for some strange reason, the older D40 could do 1/500, but otherwise, 1/200 is pretty standard.

Well, My brother owns D3000 while i own D5100.
That is the practical sync speed i have tested.. for many times

D3000 1/320s with only very little fall off at the bottom edge.
D5100 1/160s.

Your test != actual results. Both cameras are rated to 1/200s and, with either the pop-up or NIkon flash, will be limited to 1/200s unless you enable the HSS function. If you find that your D5100, which you clearly have issues with, can't get better than 1/160th, then thats your issue.

If you're so unhappy with your D5100, ccting, get a different camera and stop whining.

And once you start adding radio triggers into the mix or use non-Nikon flashes, you're going to slow down the actual sync speed.

If the D5100 only has the flash syn of 1/160 I would get it repaired while it's still under warrenty. It's not shooting to the specs specified.

This could easily be the issue. Was everything except the camera bodies identical in the tests?
