There should be an option in the Retouch Menu to do an overlay of two images, if that is what you mean? I know it's on my D40, but not sure about the 3100.

I think they're talking about making an HDR image. If that's the case, then, no. the 3100 doesn't have that feature.

Ahh! That makes more sense! No the D3100 does not have bracketing, but you can still do it manually.

not so much for HDR. I want to cut the aperture back and shoot several exposures to one image maybe 3 or 4 maybe even with a strobe. Back in the old days i could fake the camera out and push the button on the bottom so i didn't advance the film and shoot again on the same frame.

That seems like something you could do in Photoshop with one image.

This is what I thought you meant to begin with. It's in the retouch menu. You can combine 2 different exposures to make one.

Holy shit Luke. You knew something about my camera that I didnt even know. Then again, I've never really wanted to venture towards the HDR kinda thing, so knowing that it had that feature wasnt really an interest. But it's cool to know that it does, so if I ever want to use it.

thanks, i'll try the image overlay but i don't think i've been clear. I'm not looking for HDR affect...i just want an old school multiple exposure on one image (frame). I'm shooting somone still and i want to show others moving (i know a long shutter speed will do this) but i want something more than a blurr from the others

Like the previous poster said, do one exposure with your buddy in it, then do the next with people moving, go into RETOUCH like he said and combine them, if you use a tripod, this will work for you !!
