Default Help. Which camera to choose?

I have a trusty Nikon Coolpix 4300 which I have used for several years and taken some fairly decent shots! Well I like them anyway.
It's coming up to the time when I need to think about upgrading but there are so many to choose from. My other issues is that, as a pensioner, I have a limited budget. Anyone suggest a reasonable upgrade for an even more reasonable price?

What is a reasonable price for you ?
Are you still looking for a point and shoot or you are looking to switch to dSLR ?

The Coolpix is great for point and press but limiting in that I take a lot of macro shots and landscape shots. I don't have the ability to add filters, lenses etc.
I know many good cameras sell for around £4-500 but I have around £200. I don't mind second hand if it comes from a reliable source.

mmm, you don't get many options at this price.
You will probably have to look at a used entry level such as the D40 combiend with a 18-55. Lots of people started with something similar (me included).

For that budget, I'm not sure I'd be looking at an interchangeable lens camera. You might be able to find an older used body within that budget, but you probably won't have much left over for lenses, and lenses are the other (more expensive) half of the camera.

I think maybe looking for a used, higher-end P&S camera with full manual mode and RAW capability, might be the best you can do. Just me, but I'd say maybe look for a used Canon G9, and possibly an accessory ring for adding filters/teleconverters.
