Default Pricing due to part shortages is becoming a pain, anyone else agree?

I'm looking for a D7000 but pricing is just too high right now. All the issues with Taiwan flooding, Japan's quake an such is making it hard for Nikon to get component parts from the plants because there down or running behind. 'sigh' I guess it's just a waiting game.

Pricing here in Canada has gone down in recent months, or at least stayed steady. Where have you been looking?

Well, B&H preferable since they are so close to me, Amazon, Adorama, Abt, Buy.com, ya know all the online retailers.

What makes me think the price has gone up is because of the stuff going on around the world. For one, B&H had posted that it was back-ordered from the manufacturer and two my contacts at CDWG are telling me computer electronics/electronic components are seeing manufacturer issue directly because of flooding in Taiwan and disaster in Japan. I order some external HD from my rep. and told me that if I had waited any longer to get a quote for the $94 state contract drive that it is now selling for $319.

Just between two weeks ago and today the D7000 18-105mm kit at B&H went from $1394 to $1496.95 not including the Manufacturer rebate.

IIRC the D7000 is made at the Thailand plant that was under water ... so that's a thing.

Nikon also started enforcing there pricing across the board. They did this to try and make things equal from retailer to retailer.
