Default Question for Nikon D7000 user

Hi Everyone
I just recently bought my first DSLR camera; a Nikon D7000., when I shoot in timer mode I notice the mirror or something kind of move a little before and after it take the picture. (when look in the viewfinder) is this normal or something wrong with the camera?

Mirror lock-up or time delay? With live view or without? What kind of movement are you seeing? Are you using a lens with VR?

Thanks for reply. I just use the time delay with single point focus in manual mode, when I look in the viewfinder and saw the square move just a little, will see it better with the camera mounted on the tripod, and yes I use 18-105 kit len with VR on.

That's VR shifting the image...it's "normal".

Could be the focus tracking? I take boatloads of pictures of my 2 year old and focus "square" tracks his every move.

sk66 is right. When you half-press the shutter release, the VR turns on (it's normally off to save battery) and when it engages you get a bit of movement of the lens elements. That movement is visible through the viewfinder.

Thanks every one. as you guy mention its the VR not the camera, so I tried shooting with the VR off and I didn't see the movement any more. Thanks guy.

Yes, you should turn off VR when using a tripod.

When to turn VR IS on off vibration reduction image stabalization
