Default D5100 and SD Card

I just bought a d5100 last week and went out with my fiance and took pictures. We took about 90 or so on a 2gb card. She has been playing with it this week trying to learn more about it and for some reason now only can take around 12 pictures on the card before it is full. We have reset the camera settings and still having no success. If anyone has any clue what it could be let me know. Is it the card, do I need a new one?

Have a look at the card in a computer. Are there lots of folders in it? Ocassionally Nikon cameras can create extra folders. You might only be deleting the files in one folder and leaving the others full. Also, have you tried reformatting the card?

Nikon also has a new firmware update for the D5100. You can find it here. I know it addresses some memory card issues.
