Default D7000 ..... Wth!!??

Is there something with the D7000 that it resets every setting when you turn it off? I can't find any reference to it but the damn thing keeps messing up my settings!

So I guess I have another setting I have to assign to U1 and U2 and A (and probably P/S/M too)...I forget "what settings" I've assigned to them, it resets things I don't know it's going to when switching from "U" to another mode, and that stupid selector moves WAY too easily. So I end up setting them all the same.

Apparently the camera thinks I'm stupid....it's constantly "fixing" things and telling me I need to use flash or warning me that I have exposure compensation set...

I've taken more pictures with "bad" settings with this thing than I ever had with any other camera.

I've never had any problems like that. The U settings are completely independent of PSAM. I've had no problems setting the ISO for example in one of the PSAM settings, going to a U setting (with a different ISO setting) and then going back to PSAM with the original ISO setting. The U settings remember EVERYTHING, including things like focus point wrap-around and showing the ISO instead of frame count on the control panel. So you should set all custom settings before saving any U settings. Could this be the problem?

Maybe it's that I never "set" the PSAM modes...just use the two U settings..and they don't remember settings if not "stored"....It seems like maybe the camera doesn't remember anything unless stored into one of the U settings?

I often change something, then power off to change lens/tc etc, and then things are screwed up when I power back on.

Correct. You set all the settings you want in one of the PSAM modes, then through the menus save them to one of the U settings. Then when using that U setting, all settings will change to what they were when you saved it.
