Question camera upgrade recommendation please..

Hey guys, I will be upgrading to a new camera, currently I own the d5000, d70s and the d1x (which I love ). I shoot mostly with the d1x, when I do have an assignment or 'work' I do use d5000 + d70s as backup, I want to sell d5k and keep d70s as backup in order to get a new body which im debating between these models:

d2x
d90
d300
d7000

I prefer dedicated controls instead of going into the menus i just really love how the d1x feels. I shoot mainly portraits @ home and outdoors so MPs are not a point to consider for me.
Budget a lil tight rite now 900USD + 370-400USD if d5k sells = 1200-1300USD

Do you think would be a good idea to keep d70s as backup or sell it and switch to a 'better' more MPs model such as the d80?

currently I own: Kit lense 18-55mm, Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 EX, Nikon 50mm 1.8D version, Nikon 55-200mm; YongNuo YN-467 TTL Speedlite + YongNuo YN-560.

Thanks for your attention!

I would be leaning towards the newest technology in the d7000, the d300 if you were in need of a more rugged body. I wouldn't consider the D2 or D90 unless $$ was your first concern.

I often considered buying a D2x. (I really wanted a crop sensor in a body like my D3) I also much prefer the large bodies with physical controls...But I think the D300 is a better choice. Not as nice to handle, but lighter. and better than the Dx000 and Dx0 models. The D7000 is the better camera for what you are doing but I'm really not fond of the handling.

Why not take a lens to the nearest shop and shooting a couple of shots there? I would personally lean towards either the D300s or the D7000, but I've never had a FX camera...

Thanks for commentes guys... I think Ill walk into bestbuy to try out how the d7000 and the d300 or d300s feel, I preffer big bodies like my old dinosaur D1X, but i think any of these will do with a battery grip :P

Also, think im gonna keep d70s as backup, unless a cheap d80 on eBay or Craigslist is found.

I think the D7000 with grip is pretty neat, and you get amazing low light sensitivity. Only 1fps slower that D300, and if I was going D300 I would wait for D400.

Here's mine.

Kepe the D5000 has a backup: sell the D70s and the D1x. You wont get much for them, but better than nothing. Get a D7000 to replace them. Enjoy.
