So I'm looking into buying my first professional camera and i dont know which one to buy. I was looking at the Nikon D3000 and the Nikon D3100. What i like about the D3100 is that it also has video but i dont know if thats really worth the extra $150. Also because im new should i even bother buying extra lenses for now?

I would go for the 3100, and not just because of the video capability.
See here.. Nikon D3100 digital SLR announced and previewed: Digital Photography Review I would not buy extra lenses until you need (not want) them. After a while you know if you need wider, or longer (telephoto) or faster to help with low ligh shooting and or shallow depth of field (zone of sharpness).

Seconded. You'll just end up spending money duplicating stuff.

I have a D 90 and D 7000 which is all the professional I will ever need. The two compliment each other very well. As far as lenses I have 4 for any purpose I would need the for. I still discover things I did not know about the cameras so this makes me want to practice practice practice.
