I think it's a nice addition to the family. There is a couple interesting innovation like the action button. The camo skin is also very nice imo. It's a very cool skin that ties well with the market this new device is targeting.

I've been carying my D90 all over the place rain or shine (with the respective precautions based on the environement I was shooting in) so the all weather features are not really attracting for me. Now I just need to figure if I want to spend 400$ for the ability to shoot underwater

The only reason I'd get a compact is because it did something my dSLR didn't. I've resigned myself to some kind of ruggedized waterproof camera. I dont know if i'll have the funds lying around when the time comes, but it'd be the only real addition I could see myself making from a compact.
