Hey all,
I have a D80 with a standard 28-80mm Nikkor zoom lens, as well as a 70-300 lens. I am interested in getting into macro as well as wide-angle photography, especially because I will be abroad for a month this summer and want to get some really sweet shots. I found this 0.18X ultra wide-angle fisheye lens attachment on ebay... 0.18x Ultra Fish-Eye Lens AF for NIKON D3 D40x D40 D80 | eBay Do you think this is a good idea? Seems like a pretty thrifty alternative to buying a say, 12-24mm lens. I am a graduate student so I definitely do not have hundreds of dollars to spend. My dad has a 0.45x wide-angle attachment, and I've tried it but it doesnt do all that well... I can't see all THAT much of a difference besides from a larger area. Also, when I just use the Macro attachment, the camera STILL refuses to autofocus on a small object. Its quite annoying!!! Please let me know what you think. Thank you. Cheers, Dimitry |

I think I have one of these, or something very like it. Mine is branded as a Zeikos. It works pretty well as a fisheye on my Tokina 12-24 at around 20mm. Not so good when used as a wide angle, lots of distortion. Central sharpness is pretty good - quite a bit better than I expected, but things get pretty bad towards the edge, very soft and lots of CA (though the CA is partly correctable in pp). Here are a couple of examples>
