Default D90 shutter button problem

Hey

This morning I tried to take some photos around the house and I noticed that I had no half press. It was just going straight down. This meant that foocus is really slow. Has anyone had the same problem? If so what did you do?

We need a bit more info here:

What lens were you trying to use, and if it's an older one (not an AF-S) was the body motor button set to AF ?
Was your lens on auto-focus (the button M/A M on the side of the lens) ?
What was your focus setting (single point, auto, 3D, etc.) ?
Were you using Live mode (using the back LCD instead of the viewfinder) ?
What were you trying to capture (was it gray) ?

The issue is that my camera has no half press. Like when you press the shutter halfway down it usually has a little stop. Well my button just goes straight down and I don't think the focus engages all the time. And yes I did check all of the things that you mentioned.

Body and lens set to AF.
Single point.
Viewfinder.
A face, focused on eyes.
