You can't really go wrong with a D7000 if you are looking to spend $1200 - $1500 USD on a camera. It is worth it, and should last you a while. Just remember that if you are going to make the jump to DSLR that you want to think about lenses as well.

Thanks a lot for your replies! The one I found comes with 18-200mm lenses, does anyone have any experience with it?

Thumbs up

I've been using it for just over a month now. It is amazing. This camera will become a legend.

If it's in your price range, get it! The other camera in this price slot is the Canon 60D. I've used it for a fortnight. It's lovely, but the D7000 is in a class of its own.

Hope you make the right choice.

Default D7000 vs D300s

Hello, I was about to buy D7000 when I was told at the shop that D300s is better. I am very confused now, can anyone suggest, which one should I rather choose?

There are features that still make the D300s a better camera but it is an old camera with the replacement (if we are lucky) out later this year. The d7000 has a new, better sensor, more mega pixals and great IOS capabilities just to name a few. I went through the same dilema ended up going for the D7000 and wrapped with it. The choice is yours what ever you get im sure you will be happy.
