the only filters you need with digital are NDs and polarizers.

Polarizers are easy. Any 52mm CIRCULAR polarizer will do you good.

NDs are easy, but a bit more complicated. You have solid NDs and graduated NDs (two kinds of grads: ones that fade from clear to dark and ones that sudden jump from clear to dark). Generally speaking, you don't want to get a grad that screws into the filter thread 'cause then you can't adjust the height of the filter and the square kinds with the holders are expensive. When I'm in a situation where I want a grad, I just wave my solid NDs in front of the lens during the exposure. No sudden change lines in that either.

52mm 0.3 (1 stop), 0.6 (2 stops), and 0.9 (3 stops) NDs will probably be all you need (if even that much). I have a 0.6 and a 0.9 in addition to a ND400 (9 stops).
