Exclamation Old Lenses

I have recently bought a Nikon D7000. I have 18-105 and 55-300 mm lenses for it. However, my grandfather was a brilliant photographer who used the Nikon F3 film slr. I have a bunch of lenses from that camera including 50mm and 100 mm macro lenses.

My question is, can I use these lenses on my D7000 without worrying that they might damage the camera in some way?! Also as they would be non-cpu lenses, would their be a difficulty in setting the aperture shutter speed etc?

Thanks in advance.

check this site to find out the type of lens you are looking at than check your manual to see if it falls into the lens compatibility chart. "http://www.nikonians.org/nikon/slr-lens.html"

They'll likely work no problem, but really old lenses may not. They wont damage the camera, but they may not just work.

Thanks for the reply.

He had a Nikon F3 which was launched in 1980, so I'm guessing the lenses would be from anywhere between mid 80's to mid 90's.

The lenses are :

1. Nikkor 28mm Series E 1:2.8
2. Nikkor 105mm 1:2.5
3. Quantaray 80-205mm 1:4.5

Do they look good to work?

The series E will. Do you have the full lens code for the other two?

Looks exactly like the one in this link : Nikon 105mm f/2.5 AI-s

I'm almost sure it's the same one!

The quantaray 85-205mm is an auto zoom.

Hope that helps!!

this is one of the reasons i like nikon over canon, canon can't use old lenses on new cameras. besides them having more cameras with quicker burst rate, built in flash transmitters on cameras with popup flash and the D3 is the best low light DSLR ive seen. So Nikon is awesome!
