COnsidering the D5100 just came out, and DPS isnt exactly the biggest source of reviews. However, DPReview gets early access to cameras, and they have a full-on review posted.

Hello, I purchased the Nikon d5100 and had to return it because the thumb control was too tight. I still love the camera, but could not determine whether or not the wheel could be loosened!

They loosen a bit over time as you use them. Or at least that was the case with my D40.

If you do decide to get one, this is the best deal i've found. This is the one I got. You pay only $200 more than what the Camera body alone is worth and you get $400 worth of lenses, a cheap $20 tripod, but it is better than nothing. and more. 3bayjunkie: That link is for a 55-200, not the VR version. While it isn't necessary to have VR, at those focal lengths it's very useful. The UV Filters are rubbish, as is the card. I wouldnt even look at that tripod.

The D5100 is on B&H for $850 at the moment, and comes with a $500 software bundle. A 55-200 VR lens can be obtained for $240, which puts you only $100 over your ebay price, gets you better equipment from a reputable dealer, doesnt force you to use PayPal (many credit cards offer instant extended warranties), and likely gets the camera sooner. Yes, you then still have to get other things like a bag and memory, but they're so cheap and can be easily obtained from a local shop or other cheap online sources.

I agree with you, I would normally buy from B&H however I am completely strapped, The tripod I want is going to cost me about $600 - $700, the card is actually a good memory card it is about $80 if i bought it separately. The lens is worth about $180 according to B&H. I have software, I Just bought an $2,000 Adobe Creative Suite CS5 package. Since I was spending $1,000 on a camera, i don't have any money left for anything else. I also just rented a beach house in Puerto Rico for a week for me and the wife So this was the best package for a short term setup. I am planning on doing a swimsuit shoot for my portfolio while I am there, so i hope that you guys will enjoy it!
