Default I'm just sick over this and now I need advise

So, my mother in law ADORES my horse, she spends every moment she can with him when she comes over. For mothers day I decided to get a great shot of him, frame it and give it to her as a little gift. I saddled up, put my D50 in my back pack and headed out to the location I wanted to shoot. When I got there my camera was gone!! I ran back the way we'd come as fast as I could, then took my other (more reliable) horse and rode back again to double check. There was someone in a black car that had driven past me, turned around, turned around again...slowed down as he past me, then turned around again. I KNOW this guy must have seen my camera fall out and went back for it. I am SICK....I cried for an hour. Now I have a decision to make. I have a Cancer fund raiser I'm shooting on Saturday. I HAVE to get another camera ASAP. My choices are:
Get another D50 or (I've been planning on upgrading to a D90 and have been saving)
I found a D50 with all the things listed below for $480
1)Nikon D-50 Digital camera
2)macro Lens- Bower Pro Digital HD DSLR MC AF .042 x 46
3)Tamron lens AF - 19-35 1:35 - 4.5 0 77
4) 4 in one adapter
5) 1 backpack case that fits all this and you can carry with you anywhere.

Plus a whole big studio flash set up for and extra $100

OR

Get a D90 body ONLY for $750

I have lenses so that isn't an issue and i KNOW the D90 is a better camera but all those extras with the D50 for a cheaper price is very tempting.

Any advise?

Sorry to hear about the old camera. Bummer!!

I would upgrade without even thinking about it.

Ouch -- that's a tough spot. What do you think about a rental? It seems like it's less than ideal to make this sort of decision while emotions are running high. Really sorry to hear about the loss, though.

If push comes to shove I can borrow a D50 from work, I just hate to do that because I want to use my own equipment. I just spoke to a guy who has w new D90, only a few months old and he'll sell it to me for $720 with no lens. I'm gonna go test it tomorrow with my own lenses and see if I like it. I've been wanting to upgrade for a while now it just SUCKS that I still won't have a back up camera. I loved my D50

Definitely D90. The stuff that comes with the D50 is all crap.

Good, now I have 2 votes for the D90 which is the way I was leaning. What stuff with the D50 are you talking about? Software or actual equipment?

Another vote for the D90.

That said, if the event you're shooting is truely critical, borrow a D50 since you already know everything about it and then get the D90 for yourself after. Y'know- just in case.

Not a bad idea. I may just do that since I do have a D50 I can borrow.
