Exclamation d7000 battery pic meter

Did anybody notice a problem with the battery pic meter miscalculating? I just noticed this recently as I put in a freshly charged batt in my camera and put in the MB D11 grip (without a battery in it, yes it does work without an extra battery!). I took three pics and it when I checked it shows 10 pics taken. Weird. Then I try to remove the battery, give it a few sec then put it in again it still says same thing. I tried taking a few more and now it shows 85, then after a few 101 pics. Just weird. Though I have to say the battery holds quite long. Before when I never had the grip I took 1000 shots in one charge, but with the grip always on (still without a battery grip in it) I'm down to 600 to 700. Not much and I don't really notice it as I do photography a few times in a week. Any comment is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Well the grip does use battery power, just like anything else.

Where are you getting this "photos taken" based on battery? THe menu has an item to show your battery levels (its deep in there) and allows you to see which battery is dead and which is being used more. Is that it?

U can see the pics taken within the battery info. It just seems to be miscalculating the number of pics though the battery life seems to be okay. So no issues with that, just the "miscalculation" of the meter. If u know what I'm saying.

No idea. If it's not affecting things, I wouldnt worry.

What youre saying is that you put a fresh battery in, take 3 photos (without deleting any) and the menu > battery info says you've taken 10? That's odd.

Remember that the battery has to be re-charged to reset the counter, not just swapped out.

Yeah, it's actually weird but as long as it doesn't affect camera ops it's fine, just a minor issue maybe. Don't u see a pic meter under battery info too? Oh well, thanks for the insight. Appreciate it!

There is always a "pic meter" in the battery info, but it records total number of shutter actuations, not just the number of photos you've kept.

So it's not just the number of images but the number of shutter actuations? How stupid of me. Oh well, I'm a novice so it's no surprise I don't know these. Can you tell me more about this, I mean if it miscalculates does it mean there's something wrong? Or maybe I'm just hallucination or something about it miscounting.

For one, it measures the number of times the shutter was activated for photo capture. I dont know much beyond that. The counter doesnt really matter, frankly.
