Do certain camera-lens combinations expose a scene differently?

I've had my AF-s 50mm f/1.4 for a couple months now, and generally like the results I'm getting with it, but I'm beginning to notice that my photos taken with my D40+50mm camera seem to overexpose a scene a lot more than my D40+35mm combo does.

I know various camera-lens combos can have varying autofocus performance, I'm just wondering if that translates to metering as well.

I did a lot a reading recently because I'm debating between a few lens and I can't remember where but there was something about this. The guys was reviewing the 50mm f/1.4 and was telling he has to put his meter to -0.7 everytime he his using it.

Could be interesting to dig a bit.
