Default Bulb Mode on the D700

Last night while shooting the full moon I discovered that I had to keep the release button pressed to hold the shutter open while in bulb mode. Since the D700 does not use a cable that can be locked it's a pain to have to hold the release button on long exposures.. Does anybody know how to take a picture in bulb mode and not have to have to hold the release button?

Thanks for the help.

Buy a $5.00 cable.... the slide covers the button and holds it down until you want to release it.

BTW, how were you shooting the moon that you would need bulb? At 1/250 f/11 iso200 I was close to blowing the highlights.
